Why am I not receiving my Welfie verification code?

If your verification code isn't arriving — by SMS or email — it's almost always one of three things. Here's how to identify which and what to do.

 The contact details on file aren't current

This is the most common reason. The phone number or email we have on your account may not be the one you're trying to use — for example, if you've changed phones, carriers, or email addresses since signing up.

The code is delayed or hasn't arrived yet

Most of the time SMS and email codes arrive within a few seconds, but there are a couple of reasons they might be slow or not arrive at all — and many of them are outside our control:

  • Patchy mobile reception or wifi.
  • Carrier-side filtering of automated SMS as suspected spam.
  • Email providers temporarily delaying or quarantining one-time codes.
  • Brief network blips on the SMS gateway.
  • Wait two minutes before requesting a new code.
  • Don't request several codes in a row — only the most recent code will work, and rapid retries can confuse the verification screen.
  • Check that your phone has signal and your inbox isn't filtering the code into a spam or junk folder.

In most cases, the best thing to do is wait a minute or two and try again. Sometimes requesting a new code a bit later works when the first one didn't.

A few things to try in the meantime:

Your phone or email provider is filtering the message

Some carriers and email providers occasionally filter automated codes as suspected spam. Try:

  • Restarting your phone (this often refreshes the SMS service).
  • Checking your SMS junk or blocked folder.
  • Checking your email spam, junk, or promotions folders.
  • Temporarily disabling any SMS-blocking apps.
