How to connect a bank or financial institution
Here's how to add a new connected account to Welfie, and what to do if you can't find your institution in the list.
How to connect
- Open the Welfie app — you'll land on the Welfie (home) tab.
- Scroll down and tap Add accounts or assets.
- On the What would you like to add to your net worth? screen, tap Link financial account (the option for superannuation, bank accounts, loan accounts, credit cards, and investments).
- Search for your bank, super fund, or investment platform and choose it from the results.
- You'll be redirected to a secure sign-in screen to authenticate with your institution.
- After signing in, choose which of your accounts to share with Welfie.
- Confirm, and the account will appear in your dashboard within a few minutes.
What "share with Welfie" means at the consent step
Most institutions will ask you to confirm what you're authorising Welfie to see. This is normal — you're giving permission to share read-only account information, not granting any ability to move money.
You can usually pick and choose which accounts to share. For example, you might link your everyday account and your savings account but leave a joint account out.
If you can't find your institution
A few things to try:
- Search by the full name, not the brand abbreviation (try "Commonwealth Bank" rather than "CBA").
- Search by the institution that holds the account rather than the product name.
- Check whether it's listed under a parent brand (e.g., Bankwest is part of CBA).
If your institution genuinely isn't supported, you can still track the account by adding it manually under Add accounts or assets.
